Hello again, I clearly can understand that the goal of our work is to get the manual translated into Arabic. I have the small system programmed, I hope we can end up with a method to not lose it, and to get what you are talking about. I will be contacting you on your email. Thank you, Ashraf Samhouri Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2008 12:08:09 +0300From: visualmind@php.netTo: ashraf.samhouri@hotmail.comSubject: Re: [DOC-AR] Re: [PHP-WEBMASTER] Arabic PHPCC: doc-ar@lists.php.net Dear Ashraf, Thank you for your clarification and I appreciate that you have already started working on the Arabic translation. However, I would like if you consider the following facts: 1- Translating the official version doesn't really require a lot of efforts, it just means that you will work on the XML source files instead, and as result of that you will get so many benefits, you still can use your website to automate the process and replicate the final output of the manual. 2- Translating non-official version of the manual will be a great start but you will endup with a totally different version than the official php manual after few months! This is due to the fact the PHP Manual is being updated and modified gradually. Beside it will be more effective to won't be easy to link to user notes and render manual into different formats (such as: chm, long html and etc.) I don't want to see any work wasted or repeated. If you already have started something we can find out how we can benefit and invest what you already have done and implement what is needed to reach our mutual goal. Additionally, you will get a lot of support and cooperation. I CAN imagine how we can work together from my side; I wish you can explain to me why do you think we can't. At that time, some programmers wanted to get it being translated to Arabic, and others started in that project unofficially, either. And so, i decided to make a new site to have the whole manual translated, i worked on it without taking php.net team's opinion, as i was afraid of being talking without doing, like what happens each time here with the Arabic Manual team. I'll be thankful if you could understand what i'm saying, the new site is nearly prepared. That means i don't want to lose the time which was spent to program it. Please notice that the new system will allow us to add new topics together. I can't imagine how can we work together now. If you have any extra-explanation, it would be appreciated. On the other hand, i really wish we all can do the job and get the arabic php manual into the light.
