From: Tomas Petricek Date: Mon Dec 3 11:01:07 2007 Subject: RE: Tests
Hi, the formed development team adapted some of the PHP tests from php.net, so these are in the Phalanger source tree (available at CodePlex in "Tests/@PHP" directory) and we still use them to test some features of Phalanger. We have some additional tests that that we added to test the compatibility with PHP (that either expect the result according to the PHP manual or execute the code using Phalanger and PHP and compare the results). Finally, we have some tests that test extensions in Phalanger, like support .NET generics (in "Tests/PHP.NET"). I think that updating the tests that we currently use with the latest tests from the PHP distribution and eventually using the same tests is a good step. First thing that we'd like to do now is to reimplement our support for namespaces to match the support in PHP 5.3, so using tests from php.net would be very helpful for us. I found some tests for PHP namespaces in "Zend/tests/ns_*.phpt" (in the recent 5.3 PHP source code snapshot) - is that correct? Thanks! Do you have other tests that you have written yourself? I ask because I would expect that sharing tests between implementations is one way that multiple implementations of a language can really add value to each other and maybe there is some opportunity here.
