Enjoy your challenge, I would just want it fixed quickly and
completely.
Go to:
http://pear.php.net/manual/en/installation.getting.php
and follow the instructions if you decide to simply update the PEAR to
the latest version. All installed packages should be available
afterwards, provided the locations are the same.
