Software Engineer, Perl (Content Team) – Oodle Inc.

The Role: 
We are looking for senior software engineers with strong Perl skills to
build systems for better classification and acquisition of classified
listings. Engineers will build and maintain tools and algorithms for
improving the quantity and quality of Oodle's index of listings. You will
use automated methods for determining spam and data quality and natural
language processing methods to extract data, such as locations and prices
of items, from the text of classified listings ranging from motorcycles to
sports tickets. Content engineers should have a strong interest in the
challenging problem of extracting structured data from unstructured text.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

•	Architect and develop efficient, scalable, and robust web services
systems. 
•	Work closely with other engineers in a small informal team
environment. 
•	Contribute to the overall design and architecture of the Oodle back
end.

Required skills:
Requirements: 

•	A passion for building great software and pride in the quality of
your programming. 
•	Strong skills in Perl. 
•	Experience with SQL, Java, C++, PHP a plus. 
•	Ability to communicate technical issues with non-engineers. 
•	Startup mentality (self-starter, proactive, flexible). 
•	Experience working on a large-scale consumer website applications
strongly preferred. 
•	BS or MS in Computer Science. 

Desired skills:
Content engineers should have great Perl skills and a strong interest in
the challenging problem of extracting structured data from unstructured
text.
