In that case, your "discovery" is false.  On Mac OS versions 7-9, it is a
bit hard to get perl modules to work.  On Mac OS X, it is just as easy as
on Linux.  You just need to have the Developer Tools (in 10.3, called Xcode
Tools) installed, which is often distributed with the computer or OS, and
is available as a free download from http://connect.apple.com/ (which
requires a free developer account).

For more information, please try the macosx@perl.org mailing list.  The
macperl* lists are for Mac OS (versions 7-9), not Mac OS X.  There is very
little activity here, and you will get much better help over there.
