Apart from aioe, Eternal-September is good.  Solani is good too but 
I don't know if they're currently offering accounts.  Several binary
services also offer text newsgroups; a cheap, non-expiring block account
from e.g. Blocknews would last you a lifetime if used only for text
groups.
