The AC allows me to sleep comfortably at night (I am a hot sleeper). It is set to run at all hours but usually comes on around dinner time. I guess that's the time when the house is hot enough to trigger it. By not opening the windows when it's super hot outside, I am able to keep the house cool enough for most of the day so that the AC doesn't come on.
