Proper serious IQ-tests don't use text-based questions at all. Too much 
cultural bias. It's all drawings with specific pattern like:
What goes into the empty field:
    .   ..   ...
    :   ::   :::
    '   ''   ___  stuff like that.

I've never considered joining the club - I just like to know I'm not 
getting completely stupid. Also Mensa is a silly concept; the members 
have literally nothing in common except being good at solving riddles...

...or not being able to read the instructions. The getting better with 
each test is a thing, though. Being familiar with the type of problem 
the tests contains helps significantly.
