She was born with rather serious brain deficiency and a heart condition, 
as well as some other ailments I believe. I understand she was predicted 
to not reach her seventh birthday - and she (and they) beat that by a 
factor 3+, so they had her some 15 'bonus' years.
Also she really liked cake...
