Microwave in 30-second intervals until the fruit is soft enough to use. To halt the cooking process, dunk the microwaved avocados in a bowl of ice water. I saw a friend do this to make guacamole - sans the ice water - and it worked. I store hard avocados in a brown paper bag with a banana overnight...LOL, no tellin' what goes on in there, but the avocado will go soft. v -- https://www.thefarside.com/
