I got very tired of poached egg on toast during my starving secretary
days. That's what my roomie Roz and I usually survived on last week of
the month - a dozen eggs, a small loaf of bread and a few apples - for a
week until payday. We each had a poached egg on toast and half an apple
for brekkie.

We'd skip lunch - boy, were we sleek - but after work we'd go to this
bar where we had a tab... and before you knew it, we'd have dinner
invitations.

v - ah youth, I'm not proud to say that sometimes we'd duck out the back
door...
