It used to be that they did take them back because the UK was part of 
the Dublin Agreement which said they could be taken back. Since a load 
of idiots voted for Brexit, the UK is no longer in the Dublin agreement, 
so as any asylum seekers crossing in boats could no longer be sent back 
to France, all of a sudden that's how they started coming over. A vote 
for Brexit was a vote for small boats. Incidentally, most asylum claims 
are allowed, most of those that aren't and are appealed are subsequently 
allowed, and there's over 50 times as many immigrants coming in on visas 
as there are small boat refugees. But never mind, as long as the twenty 
or thirty thousand poor bastards risking drowning by crossing the 
Channel can be blamed for the collapse of the NHS, the shortage of 
housing, the crumbling schools, the cost of living crisis, etc, then 
politicians will want them coming in as a distraction.
