YM,YA.  I have my prized set of four plain white porcelain pint mugs for
my tea.  Some might call me a philistine for brewing my tea in a mug but
I'm ~very~ particular as to how its done.

First, warm the mug.  I use the dregs in the bottom of the kettle,
reboiled then emptied into the mug.  Refill the kettle with freshly
drawn water and set it to boil.  Just before it boils, empty the mug of
warming water and put in your tea-bag(s).  I use two Twinings Assam
tea-bags, although at a push, PG Tips (monkey) tea will do, or even
Yorkshire tea.

As the kettle comes exactly to the boil, pour the water directly onto
the tea-bags and watch the colour flood out.  If you're slow with this
part, you don't get the full flavour.  Stir well with your rotary-action
beverage energiser (teaspoon), clockwise in the Northern hemisphere.

Set your brew to steep.   I take the view that if you want a consistent
result, you must use a consistent method so I time mine to brew for six
minutes.  Hoick out the tea-bags.  I like to sweeten my tea with half a
teaspoon of mild-flavoured honey, so in it goes and give it a good,
strong clockwise stirring.  I like my tea very dark so I drop a tiny
splash of semi-skimmed milk into the centre of the vortex, enough to
turn the tea just off-black.

Did I mention that I like my tea?
