Oh that is most of the Human Condition. Humans are more sophisticated and complex then ducks but not by much. How a crab clings to mom crab back in the surf - dark stormy night .. and the baby crab born in to that shit sandwich has a STRONG Cling response to mommie. 

Later on they Cling to drugs and drink for the PTSD issues of enduring the combat stress events of that birthday hot mess surprise.
Well .. a baby crab that is born on a slack tide summer calm day from birth has a more Relaxed CLING Response. Monkey mom and baby do it .. kangaroos. Ducks want to snuggle up to mom .. and waddle behind her. Humans do that same thing as you watch the three kids walk behind mom in the grocery store she has a job to do and they better keep up.

Mom duck is a Hot Mess .. and is shooting Meth. Baby Duck has no clue as a baby .... and is all hard wire .. to LOVE MOM duck .. and LOVE DAD duck. That gets into their muscle memory and Autonomic Nervous system ... humans do it this way is all.

It is crazy making for baby duck to Cling Response to Mom as she is screaming at Dad Duck all the while shooting Meth to take the pain away of her Daddy rape in the nursery - she was destroyed as a child human duck. So they use words and more complex acting out then a real duck on Meth. 
This damages the connection between Birth body mom and the Baby body .. who need each other to survive. During WW2 in the Blitz hundreds of babies arrived orphaned to Hospital .. and only care could be given to ONE BABY that night.

So the nurse picked one to rock in a chair - tickle the nose - make the baby squeal with delight - and the hormones come up and make the baby brain come alive. The other scored of babies that night - cried themselves to death bleeding out for their dead mom and dad and were gone by sunrise. This is the one of two ends of the Human Consciousness .. not to bleed out and die. All the while also wanting to make the next generation and the clever games one says to get sperm or an ovum factory to produce one.

Anyhow ... This Duck Disease - this type of Bonding and Imprinting .. is the Human Condition. The Person can have the VERY BEST of Parent objects .. and raised Perfectly like the Buddha to know no pain .. and that is their Duck Disease that got into their muscle memory and Autonomic Nervous System of great nose tickles .. and it has to come out....

Shit hits the fan in their wonderful life and wonderful wife at age 50 .. as the Defense Structure do NOT want your wonderful mom and dad ghost running your life.
The Defense Structure .. wants YOU RUNNING YOUR LIFE .. that is why you have this shit sandwich to sort out.
It is paradoxical, ironic and counter intuitive but that is how the Defense Structure works - that is whole Graduate Class on Clinical Psychology you have to sit through and learn about.

Same for the Ghost of your sick mom and dad .. the Defense Structure wants you running your life. With sick parent objects it is the same as with good parent objects .. just more noise - more energy - more boo hoo tears and snot to heal the Broken Heart. (When you become Whole Hearted then the Defense Structure as the idiot savant it is - makes the light sweet tears of happiness and joy - have to water your garden Petal).

So your ex-husband is going though his shit sandwich in a much harder way then you are .. as he is more Stubborn .. and has a greater Cling Response going on in his Duck Disease that has to be worked on with daily yoga .. pulse diagnosis accupuncture. He was damaged more then you.
If you can find a Rosenberg/Rand Trained Integrative Body Psychotherapists they can carefully move your body through the fight-flight-freeze-Cling response issues of the Sympathetic Nervous System in two years. Still have to do the 8 years of Recovery clean and sober to sort out the Addictive Personality Disorder (so to speak - it is just PTSD and the Maslow / Piaget Stages of Childhood Development that have to go through Emotional Intelligence building with love this time working Recovery).

Finally the Brain has to be re - wired properly .. through the body as it is a physical disease this PTSD stuff. With this .. Sex and the Male giving himself to his Woman so she is the only one to touch him. The hormones come up and the teenager brain of puberty changes to the adult brain with adult hormones from her. She needs his hormones for her brain to change .. mature. Also it deeply works the Parasympathetic Nervous System dominance and that is where the game is at .. the big pay off. Think Parachute - it slows you down safe landing.

Sex and the hormones .. used In this process .. the miss wire and the shut down parts of the brain are set straight in the Human Condition .. and it sorts out the Duck Disease so to speak ... as you and the spouse .. pair bond through hormones. The first nervous system .. before nerves are created. I purport this is all coming out of deep ancient parts of the brain .. deep reflex if you will ... from millions of years of doing this stuff .. the Human Condition.

Any how this Duck Disease in the Human Condition set up for Survival of the baby ... is for about 99% of the brains that came out of the factory.
Most of the time .. it is just a matter of 'those' combat stress events ... hit 'that' brain out of the factory .. and you get 'this' clinical presentation on par with their Duck Disease. The other 1% of the time .. different brain with parts physically missing for example as compared to the other 99% out of the factory.

Some baby ducks are raised all their lives to walk on their knees and drink the koolaid for Jesus ... for them to kick their sick prick wife beater of a husband to the curb they would have to take a stand. Those baby ducks where not raised that way .. to take a stand .. all their life.

Their sick prick wife beater father duck would not allow that.

It would make him cry for them and him to get off their knees ..

Monsters don't cry -

it was beaten out of him in his duck disease by his monster dad - and so it goes.

PS .. basically the fix for destroyed hubby is to get him into the rocking chair with mom to make eye contact for a nose tickle and a laugh to get their brain sorted out properly

- this is a complex and tedious task as their (his) Defense Structure is all alert and twisted up with stark black and white thinking.

He has to want to do this .. want to give him self to his woman so only she touches him - clean sober - applied psychophysiology interventions work best.

The brain has to be correctly wired and both hemispheres awake. Or the brain devolves into more primitive states of being psychotic .. living in constant combat. Today with Warp Speed they are driving 120 mph into a brick wall to explode it all at the end ... for just them selves .. or scores of others. They were destroyed as a child in their duck disease to begin with. UK Criminal Code (Destruction of a child). 

All those psychotic legally sane guys in the picture .. raped by their psychotic legally sane fathers as a child for generations.
