Transportation Security Administration agents have now worked more days

On Friday, President Donald Trump signed a promised executive action to
pay workers after House Republicans rejected a Senate deal that would
have ended the current shutdown. 

The Department of Homeland Security has said that TSA agents may receive
paychecks as early as Monday.

This is the third full or partial government shutdown that TSA agents
have faced in just six months. During a shutdown, some federal workers
are furloughed, and other essential workers, such as TSA agents,
continue to work without pay. Workers are paid retroactively. 

The fiscal year began on Oct. 1 with a 43-day full government shutdown
as lawmakers butted heads over healthcare subsidies. 

The historically long shutdown led to the Federal Aviation
Administration temporarily reducing the number of flights at certain
airports due to safety concerns amid staffing shortages. 

There has not yet been a reduction in flights since the current partial
shutdown began on Feb. 14, but as workers continue to miss paychecks,
TSA agents are resigning and calling out of work. 

The latest shutdown stems from disagreements about Department of
Homeland Security funding amid Trump's ramp-up of immigration
enforcement. 

Similar debates caused a four-day partial government shutdown in early
February.
