She was a Navy nurse during WWII and when the war ended she was a nurse at the VA. He was a Navy Medical Corpsman in the Pacific attached to the Marines which saved him from starving because his daddy got hit by a car and died when he was 8 so when his mother lost the house because it was the depression, he lied about his age and joined up. He came back with malaria, six kinds of jungle rot, TB and stuff nobody ever figured out. Bullet and schrapnel holes too. Not like Trump's daddy who didn't serve because he was in the KKK and the German American Bund (Nazis) and didn't want to hurt his countrymen or let negroes rent his apartments while he was fighting a very beautiful war. My dad went to college on the GI bill and stayed in medical (maybe he had a natural ability) and got a job as a research microbiologist isolating cancer viruses and whatnot which was convenient for me because I could just go there and see medical happening and dub around in the library and not get kicked out. People used to come to our house with kids that fell out of trees or crashed their bikes or had rashes or were puking their guts out to get checked out because we had medical personnel in house. Then, after the immediate problem got sorted out, we'd all hide because the doctor just pulled in the driveway for the followup and you know what that means. -- Grizzly H.
