that’s a problem in some stones because what looks beautiful once bezeled turns into mud, so you have to pick the right thing

However the type of stuff my sister was  working with, bezel is the only option maybe semi bezel but even so surrounding a stone can totally dim its appeal 

A lot of times it May depend on how high up the bezel is, how deep the stone is, etc

I have been trying to find an example of the ring a jeweler at the golf shop made i really liked since I can’t describe it

She bezelled a scissor cut orange hessonite garnet. On the band she appliqués gold moons, diamonds shapes.  Not cut out. There were literally chunks of shaped gold all over the band 

It was plain looking, but it was obvious details were paid attention to
Gold was thick
