Why do three officers and a K-9 need to raid a home because a man burned his Christmas tree in his backyard?

What if there were children or a baby in the room? I'm afraid that dog needs to be put down before it kills someone.

A police canine that the police have no control over needs to be retired. That was ridiculous.

They busted in the house because he lit a Christmas tree on fire in his yard? That is insane. The cops here in the states have lost their minds.

Don't blame the dog. The man did not comply with the officers...

The guy makes a good point. If he would have put his hands down to try to stand up he risked getting shot with officers claiming he was reaching for something and he did not follow orders to keep his hands up.

Hope the dog is not punished, he was just doing what he was trained to do.

The dog should not have been released anyway! What if there were children inside, the man had surrendered straight away so why was the do released? Even if he didn't surrender in the house the dog doesn't need to be let off to get the guy and the handler could have still had some control.

The dog is NOT doing what it is trained to do. Dogs trained for "man work" are supposed to release on command. They need to be ultra obedient, which seems to be lacking in this case.

It says that this incident happened two years ago. Does anyone know what happened to Pyro the K-9 and if he's ok? The Christmas Tree Burner's filing a lawsuit so he''ll be happy going forward,, I just want the dog to be safe,

Police dogs, at least in MN, are not trained to go for the face. We've been told, after trying to donate a dog to our local department, they wouldn't take him because he had already nipped someone in the face and once a dog bites the face/head, they'll always go back. For our local department, it was an automatic failure and they won't touch a dog like that. Hopefully this dog is removed from service because he'll do it again.

K9's always respond to their minder's commands. The officer gave a covert signal to attack. Happens more often than you think. After being bitten, the citizen is still left having to comply with the officer.

The dog will be the one you ends up punished even though it's his handler fault

And if he (the guys whose face will never be the same) wouldve shot the dog he wouldve been charged with death to a police officer! In the US anyway

If ''Hoogveldt resisted arrest'' It certainly was not shown in the footage....Hoogveldt raised both hands but did not comply to standing up so does that necessitate releasing the canine '' no''.By the looks of things Hoogveldt will be in for a considerable lawsuit and I think it will be justified.

The police at fault. Dog just doing what it has been trained to do. Hope this man fully recovers.
