"I'm on the floor, I can't breathe."
"Is there smoke in the house?"
No not at all, the air just doesn't like me. That was a 'duh' moment if I've ever seen one.

It's a test to see if the woman is coherent. To know if they still know if the smoke is there.

YES ! I knew the lady was going to make it, but I was afraid to hear about the kitties....THANK YOU FIREFIGHTERS for rescuing & resuscitating the furbabies ! Seems like it would be so hard to find animals since they try to hide in situations like this. Great outcome :)

Not that I can think of off the top of my head. There was one called "Sister Save" where the fire made the windows explode, which set off the burglar alarm and woke the people up.

this is how we train for structure fire, smoked filled homes, it is very hard to conduct a search and rescue operation, 0 visibility, and adrenalin rushing, but thats why we train the way we do, but the best thing you can do is take steps to prevent a fire from happening

just that one small electrical fire in the living room television cause a vary deadly event all because of the smoke and poisonous gases or fumes such as carbon monoxide produce by the that small fire

I said "This segment was taken from Episode 108 which aired on October 24, 1989. The segment was later repeated on Episode 208, which aired November 13, 1990."
The segment was repeated on Episode 208 as the second segment.

They haven't figured out that they're not supposed to go into burning and smoke-filled buildings. Our Captain wishes they wouldn't do it bc it so often creates an additional victim. Then we have to rescue a police officer(s) on top of the original victim.

I wonder if, here's my theory the fire engine from the 6-7 season may be an outtake from this segment because this happened in 1986 and the firetruck i cal it the "Triumph" firetuck is early 80's with 2 small cup-like lights side by side?

Holy crap, you're right! I saw this eposode when it first came and I never noticed that.
Possible explaination: The camera likely used a Videocon tube, rather than a modern CCD or CMOS sensor. It worked the same way as a CRT tube in an old television, except that it picked up images rather than displaying them.
Old CRTs were subject to "blooming" when displaying overly bright images. I'm sure Videocon tubes were vulnerable in the same way, and the bright explosion contrasting with the rest of the picture caused a CRT-type blooming effect around the image of the VCR.
You will notice in old camera video recordings from 1980s and before that streetlights would leave a trail during nightime action shots of a street. CRTs had the same kind of presistence problem, though this was lessened somewhat in newer picture tubes.

If the fire was caused by a short in the TV/VCR, then at 0:36-0:37, why did the Christmas lights turn on??
William Cox
It looks like the only thing that really caught fire was the Television if you look carefully. Looks like the only damage to pay for is the side door, the TV and VCR, smoke damage, and whatever way the firefighters used to gain entry.

what realy most causes a fire when something
shorts out is the sparks and fireballs that
fly from the arcing and land something
combustble or flammable in the room such as the carpit.
