What do I do? I'm 15 and I'm not allowed to get angry/annoyed with my mom. If I get happy about something, she uses it against me when she is in a bad mood. If I am apathetic, she scolds me for being heartless. Should I fake or hide my emotions more?

I would say being fake or being asked to do this is like adding insult to the injury already sustained. And it's very frustrating. When you just want to be normal and free to be who you are. At fifteen or some other age it still hurts. It just maybe hurts more cause you used to belive your mom was perfect or special and you realize she human after all and it's a bit disappointing. i would suggest that you just be you. Your emotions are normal and natural. And if or when u feel ur being treated unfairly it's a normal way to feel. Hurt angry and frustrated. There's really not alot you can really do tho imo. Other than just acknowledge this tendency in her and accept it for what it is. It's not really about you anyway it sounds like. It's about her. If you are able to realize this and not take it personal even tho she attempts to make it personal and you let go of your expectations of hoping for a better relationship that doesn't seem to be coming. You will be able to see more clearly, how's its not really about you and stop taking offense. It's about her, imo, mental illness, and and feeling she must control everything. Some ppl are just like that no matter what. You say or do one thing they want to demand the opposite. And then make you feel guilty or humiliation or some other deep seated emotion that they really hold inside themselves. But can't accept it since it's too crushing to their ego. Nothing u can do but listen till it's over, and walk away. But walk away rejecting all their garbage that they now attempted to unload on you. Don't accept it. Just leave their on the floor with thrm it's not your problem it's theirs unless you take it with you and belive the lies. Don't, for your own mental health. Just walk away without their bagbof garbage over your shoulder. Best Regards

At 15 you should not have to put up with a crazy parent.
So, now you know there is something definetly off with her.
She will not change, but it can get worse.
I would say yes, around her fake and hide your emotions.
This is good experience for when you go to work as an adult.
I am hoping you have a different adult figure that can be your pretend mother to talk to about life or things in general.
Pity her. She has an issue. But don’t take it personally. She has a problem. Keep your mind and body healthy. Do your schoolwork, get involved in school and work towards your goals. These are the things that will keep you going.
You will meet others like her out there in the world. They are everywhere. Those are the WTF? type people! Make sure you get some college in, even it is community college so that you have a future income and can leave crazyland!

Just now
Why should this kid have to kow tow to her mom’s mental illness? Unsorry, but holding feelings in will make the kid eventually explode.
I'm tired of people chanting “oh, but I got a mental illness:, and to hell with other people's needs. Sounds like “mom” is a selfish, ungreatful c----.

I’m sorry you’re in this situation, but please don’t add to your difficulties by making your mother’s problems yours. The fact that she has real difficulty accepting your feelings and not personalizing them, or using them against you, says a lot about her emotional problems, not about your feelings.
Having feelings is something that makes us uniquely human and it’s important to be able to feel what you are feeling - in other words, to be yourself. You are entitled to be happy or sad or frustrated or joyful or any other thing that you feel. Hopefully you have people in your life that are accepting of you and your feelings that you can express them to.
I don’t know if you have an adult you can talk to about what your mom is going through but I sounds as though she is having emotional problems that need assessment and perhaps treatment. Please ask a trusted adult for help in addressing her about needing to find out what is going on with her.
