Humility and Bullying

The biggest problem with humility is how it is taught. It is taught through bullying and aggression. This identifies humility in the minds of people with bullying and aggression, resulting in it itself being seen as a vice.

True humility is not the self-effacement as is instilled through bullying. True humility comes from a realization that there are other people who have done more difficult things than what one has done oneself, and that it is sensible to respect these people.

Humility therefore has to be taught that way. Introduce people to people who have impressive accomplishments. Do not force it down people’s throats. Instead show rationally the superiority of the attitude. And see humility being seen as a virtue and being willingly embraced.
