When a woman whom I loved very much died, I started thinking, What can I do that she would have wanted to see done? She was very wise and compassionate, and she wanted to see more people become wise and compassionate and treat one another better. So I've put a lot of effort into becoming that way. 

The more such things are done, the more death is defeated, as the deceased lives through you.

Many people believe that one can't love another unless he loves himself; but in fact the opposite is the case. You love people for traits you find lovable. Seeing these traits expressed successfully by another person, you know what you need to work on within yourself in order to become lovable in your own eyes.
