Donald Trump has never wanted to do the job. It's all about his ego. He 
loves the power and the adulation of his dopey fans. Beyond that he 
ignores expert advice and just does shit based on his "gut", in other 
words sheer ignorance. Look where that got America with Covid-19. His 
gut told him to play it down and the results have been catastrophic. 
Compounding all of it, he is incapable of changing course because that 
would mean admitting a mistake, which he is incapable of doing. That he 
has millions of people willing to risk their lives to support him is one 
of the more fascinating studies in human psychology I have ever witnessed.
