It is not really accurate that doctors can legally do genital cutting for gender reassignment purposes on kids who think they might be transgendered, or that anyone at all is advocating it.

You've got things like infant male circumcision, and even genital cutting of girls in some parts of the US practiced by Christian communities, sure. But it's really got precious little to do with the thing of some kids feeling as though something's up with their gender identity. It's a difficult question to know how best to help such kids, sure, and what the right thing to do is, but the question of genital cutting before you're an adult has simply not at any time been on the table. No-one finds it appropriate when you're still a child.
