Well done. I hope this position doesn't interfere with your other projects
because, despite Jon's transparent attempt to compare your life as a person
who isn't a wage slave to his own desperate situation where, even after a
lifetime's work he still can't retire, yours is unquestionably better. There
cannot be a better life than to live doing something you enjoy and exceed in
to the extent you have to be able to contribute to it by making new grounds.

Unlike Jon, you've achieved two goals:
1. gained a hard-earned Ph.D. in Mathematics
2. worked in the field of mathematics all over the world.

Jon flunked his Ph.D. program and has never worked in his chosen field.

So for him to claim, "You have lived a wasted life..." when in the winter
years of his own wasted life chasing nothing more than a pay cheque each
month is nothing but an indication of his grudging resentment of the life
you're living, Rupert.

Money doesn't always bring happiness, and it's certainly never a measure of
success.
