# [Tails 6.15.1](https://tails.net/news/version_6.15.1/index.en.html) This release is an emergency release to fix important security vulnerabilities in Tor Browser. # Changes and updates * Update _Tor Browser_ to [14.5.2](https://blog.torproject.org/new- release-tor-browser-1452), which fixes [Mozilla Foundation Security Advisory 2025-37](https://www.mozilla.org/en- US/security/advisories/mfsa2025-37/). These vulnerabilities allow an attacker to perform an out-of-bounds read or write on a JavaScript object, but [don't allow breaking out of the Firefox sandbox](https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2025/05/17/firefox-security- response-to-pwn2own-2025/). * Update _Thunderbird_ to [128.10.1](https://www.thunderbird.net/en- US/thunderbird/128.10.1esr/releasenotes/). * Remove the _Tor Browser_ and _Tor Browser (persistent)_ folders: they are not necessary anymore, thanks to the more flexible confinement of _Tor Browser_ we introduced in [Tails 6.14.1](https://tails.net/news/version_6.14.1/index.en.html). ([#15028](https://gitlab.tails.boum.org/tails/tails/-/issues/15028)) # Fixed problems * Fix the _Unsafe Browser_ appearing in the window list with the _Tor Browser_ icon. ([#20934](https://gitlab.tails.boum.org/tails/tails/- /issues/20934)) * Make reporting an error using _WhisperBack_ more robust. ([#20921](https://gitlab.tails.boum.org/tails/tails/-/issues/20921)) * Fix _USB tethering_. ([#20940](https://gitlab.tails.boum.org/tails/tails/-/issues/20940)) For more details, read our [changelog](https://gitlab.tails.boum.org/tails/tails/- /blob/master/debian/changelog). # Get Tails 6.15.1 ## To upgrade your Tails USB stick and keep your Persistent Storage * Automatic upgrades are available from Tails 6.0 or later to 6.15.1. * If you cannot do an automatic upgrade or if Tails fails to start after an automatic upgrade, please try to do a [manual upgrade](https://tails.net/doc/upgrade/index.en.html#manual). ## To install Tails 6.15.1 on a new USB stick Follow our installation instructions: * [Install from Windows](https://tails.net/install/windows/index.en.html) * [Install from macOS](https://tails.net/install/mac/index.en.html) * [Install from Linux](https://tails.net/install/linux/index.en.html) * [Install from Debian or Ubuntu using the command line and GnuPG](https://tails.net/install/expert/index.en.html) The Persistent Storage on the USB stick will be lost if you install instead of upgrading. ## To download only If you don't need installation or upgrade instructions, you can download Tails 6.15.1 directly: * [For USB sticks (USB image)](https://tails.net/install/download/index.en.html) * [For DVDs and virtual machines (ISO image)](https://tails.net/install/download-iso/index.en.html) URL: <https://tails.net/news/version_6.15.1/index.en.html>
