I just saw your update.
I had independently implemented the same feature a lot before noticing 
your commit.

Thanks for the Tor implementation! Works great.

One small suggestion: auto-enable --tor when URL contains ".onion"
to avoid user error. Something like:

   if strings.Contains(serverURL, ".onion") && !useTor {
       fmt.Println("Detected .onion, enabling Tor")
       useTor = true
   }
