...above Ox Creek here in Buncombe where a little old lady with a flock of grown children lived in the old farmhouse on a road which had for probably a century been a right-of-way by prescriptive easement. The road was not on the latter's deed but it was a right-of-way nonetheless. Leah the Aggressor saw her chance and zapped the road by running strong chains across it, halting ingress, egress, and regress, among at least two more roads Leah blocked which crossed her invading majesty's acreage. These, now landlocked, were old-timey Scotch-Irish natives whose country Leah and Morris had crossed and invaded and trespassed on. So angry lawsuits erupted. I pursued one of those legal actions for Lucille McKin and her siblings. The Karpens got up on the stand with sad puppy-dog faces and both of them acted so persecuted, wounded, and hurt, like they were the victims when in fact they were the villains. The jury were enraged and quickly ruled in favor of Lucille and her sibs. Here's Leah and I wonder if before she met her Maker she had gotten her soul's warts sandpapered off: https://www.morrisfamilycaregroup.com/obituaries/Leah-Karpen/#!/TributeWall Notice all the mushy panegyrics exaggerating Leah's kindness. Let me tell you: she was NOT kind to those people she ran over out there in the deep woods.
