We're just now eating her red tomatoes planted in the back yard. They came up and ripened in what seems like no time. Tasty too. I love tomatoes which are both sweet and sour, and these are. Nothing like a tomato sandwich with a slice of country ham, lettuce, and mayo (Hellmann's or Blue Plate). OTOH, I have been buying various tomatoes at Ingles and the heirlooms are spotty. The first ones were good, the last ones almost tasteless. But expensive. Greenhouse tomatoes -- better luck but sometimes sorry as hell too. And always expensive. I always have bad luck with Ingles watermelons. The last out of four tries was good, though not the best. A friend who used to haul melons always knew how to pick the best ones but would never give up his secret. He's dead now. I hope he's satisfied taking his secret to the grave.
