This is the 3rd edition of the Definitive Mac Pro Upgrade series, as I've w=

Other updates to the MacBook Pro include dual- and quad-core Intel Skylake =
Core i5 and i7 processors, improved graphics, and displays that offer a 25%=
 wider color gamut, 67% more brightness, and 67% more contrast. All version=
s can output to a 5K display; the 15-inch models can drive two such display=
s. The 15-inch models include a discrete Radeon Pro 450, 455 or 460 graphic=
s card in addition to the integrated Intel graphics. The base 13-inch model=
 has function keys instead of the Touch Bar, and just two USB-C ports. The =
flash storage in the Touch Bar models is soldered to the logic board and is=
 not upgradeable, while in the 13-inch model without Touch Bar, it is remov=
able, but difficult to replace, as it is a proprietary format of SSD storag=
e.[91][92]

The 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,399 for the standard model with a Core=
 i7 CPU, AMD Radeon 5300M GPU and 512GB SSD. This model replaces the 15-inc=
h MacBook Pro, which started at the same price. The $2,799 upgrades you to =
a faster Core i9 CPU, faster Radeon Pro 5500M graphics and 1TB SSD.

On the graphics front, the 16-inch MacBook Pro should be able to handle any=
 workload with ease. The AMD Radeon Pro 5300M is the starting GPU but you c=
an upgrade to the Radeon 5500M and max out with 8GB of video RAM, which is =
what our review model has.



As mentioned above, RAM upgrades for Mac (excluding Mac mini) are considere=
d to be the easiest improvements you can do yourself. Now what should you d=
o when it comes to MacBook Pro SSD upgrade or MacBook Pro graphics card upg=
rade?

As for what upgrades are available for the Mac Pro, there are a few options=
 to choose from. MPX modules include various GPUs, from the Radeon Pro Vega=
 II to the Radeon Pro W6900X, but you can also buy the Pegasus R4i 32TB RAI=
D module, which adds a ton of storage to the Mac Pro. Of course, you can al=
so buy RAM sticks and M.2 SSDs to upgrade your RAM and storage. The Mac Pro=
 has a tool-less opening system so you can easily get inside it for upgrade=
s.

Many MacBooks have both integrated and discreet graphics processor in their=
 system. The discrete graphics processor is more powerful but requires a lo=
t more resources and cause your MacBook Pro to heat up. By enabling the Aut=
omatic Graphics Switching option, the system will automatically detect whic=
h graphics card is needed for which task and will use integrated graphics f=
or less power hungry tasks keeping the overheating issues in check.

Keep in mind Apple itself has not provided support for external GPU in Boot=
 Camp. Therefore the following steps to set up an external graphics card wi=
th your MacBook Pro can possibly cause bootup issues. We highly suggest the=
