Recent findings in Mallorca suggest the discovery of the oldest gorgonopsian, featuring unique limb anatomy indicative of efficient locomotion. . . . Think "very hostile killer pig" or 'proto-wolf'. The fossil found was 'fair'. It showed distinct sabre teeth. NOT sure how they figured "eggs" - or whether some kind of milk was involved, there's just not enough evidence. The neat-o bit though is that one rear leg was well-preserved - and is NOT like dino/reptile legs which kinda splay out. This screams "mammal". MOST views of mammals are of little rat-like burrow-dwelling things. These MAY have been the only derivs to survive The Asteroid. But silent genes from FAR earlier times may have already been in them. It'd help explain the explosive and diverse evolution after The Asteroid. Perhaps what we've seen since is less de-novo and just 're-volution' ? -- 033-33
