nally been identified, with the help of the person who inherited his files =
after he died.=20

He was Clark McClelland, a part-time contract mechanic at Cape Canaveral on=
 and off in the 1980s and early 1990s. As this biographical portrait shows,=
 he was an awesomely productive fabricator of fantasies about his own impor=
tance, and his discoveries. The Cooper Mercury spaceflight story is entirel=
y his own invention, and Cooper vehemently denied it in writing.
