May vary?  Perhaps you have also heard that there are countries that may even use languages other than English!
Why, the nerve of them!
I don't need to specify any rules to a Columbus cornball who has committed dozens of grammar and spelling atrocities in this very thread while trying to prove I had an errant comma, which I did not.   I grew up in 2 different countries as well, so at times I have caught myself mixing grammar from each. Sometimes I like the look of one over the other but, you know, I don't really care.
