I do think some of the effort by Republicans is with the intent in mind of 
reducing the Democratic vote.  But absolutely nothing *prevents* or 
outright *discourages* anyone who wants to vote Democrat from doing so.  
Most of the "barriers" are of the type that will discourage the *lazy* 
vote.

The fact that the Republicans can count on gaining if they discourage such 
voters and the Democrats are screaming fiercely to make people take 
virtually no effort to vote, is a clear depiction of which section of the 
electorate is actually *more* engaged and thus cares *more* about the 
outcome of the election.  (Clearly they have more "skin in the game.")  I 
would also say, that by and large, those less committed, are also *less* 
informed.

Forgive me for not getting too worked up about the disenfranchisement of 
voters who cannot be troubled to cast a legal vote if the slightest effort 
or inconvenience is required.
