Maybe we did/do have more.  I would already consider for singer-songwriters
Elvis Presley, Elton John, ABBA (Björn Ulvaeus), David Bowie, Michael
Jackson, Madonna, Katy Perry, Katie Melua; and for composers John Williams,
Jerry Goldsmith, Dennis McCarthy, and Hans Zimmer, to be among them.  And
there are so many (other) highly prolific songwriters who are writing songs
for *other* people, and composers who write fantastic pieces (mainly for
movies now) whom are seldom recognized.  YMMV.

But it is obvious that those figures were not meant literally, so that is a
straw man argument.
