It's short for people who subscribe to young earth creationism, which
is the religious pseudoscientific belief that the Biblical account of
creation reflects actual history, resulting in the claim that life,
earth, and/or the entire universe (depending on the type of YEC) is
only about 6-10,000 years old (hence the term "young earth," given
that modern science has determined that those are actually billions of
years old, not 10,000 years old).
