Adam and Eve had free will and the choice to eat from the tree and suffer the
consequences or not.
That was THEIR choice.
They were not prevented from doing such.

Lot and his wife were told by God not to look back at the burning cities.
They had choice. They were not prevented from looking back but it would result
in consequences. Lot's wife looked back and was turned intop a pillar of salt.
