"Andrew" still sees things through his age 7 Sunday school eyes. He believes what he does about the origin of the universe because "the bible tells me [Andrew] so." As I have said a few times before, "Andrew" would believe an animist creation myth if he had been born in Africa, or a Taoist or Confucian or Buddhist myth if born in China, or a Hindu myth if born in India. He would believe the Native American "Giant Turtle" myth if he had been born into any of several tribes. "Andrew's" is not a reasoned position — it's just religious dogma dressed up in "sciency" language. It's myth. He believes it because he finds it comforting. That's all it is.
