Problem with 4X4 not engaging on 2008 Polaris 500 Scrambler

My Scrambler has HD four wheel drive. When I try to switch on my four wheel drive it does not engage. I wonder why. Front hub leaks. Would that be the problem? Could it be a switch or activator. I am not sure what to look for. Thanks
