1997 F250 No start

Friends pickup with the V8, 4x4 died one day.
Can jump the solenoid and the starter works,
eng runs ok. The solenoid works with seperate 12V on it, but the power wire
to the solenoid bare stud has no power when the ignition switch is all the
way down.

Seems there is an interlock switch down near the transmission ? Thought
maybe the shifter is in a strange position and is telling the switch to open
?

Is there a fuse for the solenoid 12v wire?
