alt.sex.stories is a Usenet newsgroup for erotic stories created on May 7, =
1992, by Tim Pierce as an alternative to pre-existing alt erotica newsgroup=
s.[1][better source needed] The group was initially unmoderated, a feature =
that was not shared by some of the other Usenet or altnet newsgroups. This =
feature allowed for greater user freedom.



In early 1997 a moderated version of alt.sex.stories was created due to an =
increasing number of posts by "various pay services, scam artists, and bots=
".[citation needed] This moderated newsgroup (ASSM) has always operated by =
cross-posting all approved stories to alt.sex.stories, and is not simply a =
filtered version of the unmoderated group, rather, all stories posted to AS=
SM were specifically submitted there.

Due to competition from web-based erotica sites and communities, the volume=
 of stories posted to ASSM (and thus to alt.sex.stories) had dropped consid=
erably by 2006, although the group continued to be actively moderated until=
 July 2017[2] and the asstr.org website[3]

d when the Internet got popular was share pornography. Pictures took fuckin=
g forever to load on dialup connections, so erotic stories were popular as =
fuck. Some things never go out of style, though, and dirty stories are as h=

as been serving up the literary goods for decades currently.

While there's no known beginning to the electronic erotic story tradition, =
these stories were probably the first form of internet pornography.First av=

 1980s. In March 1990 rec.arts.erotica was created specifically for the pos=
ting of stories. However, the group was bogged down with rules many felt we=
re excessive. The moderators would reject the cruder porn which lacked any =
literary merit, and would even reject submissions for bad spelling and gram=
mar.Perhaps the world would be a better place had it stayed like that, but =
in May 1992 Alt.sex.stories and alt.sex.stories.d were created for the post=
ing and discussion of any type of sex stories. Various subgroups would be c=
reated (such as for gay or bondage stories), and eventually spam would forc=
e the creation of a moderated group in alt.sex.stories.moderated.Due to the=
 nature of Usenet, it's virtually impossible to determine the real populari=
ty of the group. Some informal surveys estimated its readership at 50,000+ =
in the mid 1990s, and it has certainly grown since then. The group does boa=
st thousands of unique authors, and tens of thousands of unique stories.Whi=
le the web has proved competitive, with nearly all 'stories sites' simply b=
eing stolen alt.sex.stories material, the community has persisted and conti=

 the stories I liked most. Before I knew it I was stuck with a small but ni=
ce collection.

In my humble opinion I find reading a plain textfile a bit of a turn-off. S=
o I turn these stories into nice book lay-outs. I save them in Adobe PDF fo=
rmat because virtually everybody can still read it.

If you mix those two together you'll get a nice ebook. And that's what I do=
