The Continental Mark III is a continuation of the basic personal-car concepts first conceived by Edsel Ford and originally expressed in the trend-setting Lincoln Continental Mark I and developed further in the Mark II.

The Continental Mark III is a continuation of the basic personal-car

A new 460-cubic-inch V-8 engine designed specifically with current
emission control standards in mind is introduced in the Continental
Mark III. The cylinder block design utilizes the Ford-developed
precision casting technique for strength, compactness and light
weight. The engine is rated at 365 horsepower.

The front of the Continental Mark IlI is dominated by a broad radiator
shell-type grille reminiscent of some of the most notable past and
present luxury cars. Both the shell and the finely chiseled vertical
grille louvres are polished meticulously and
plated heavily to achieve a deep lustrous appearance and to combat
corrosion.

The heritage of the Continental Mark III can be traced directly to
1920 when the first Lincoln was built by Henry M. Leland. Henry and
Edsel Ford bought the Lincoln Motor Company in February, 1922, and
nearly one million of these fine automobiles have been built since
that date.
