How a new window idea produced a beautiful new shape for cars. Here is a roof with a reason. In fact, six reasons. It opens wide for breezeway ventilation. It is recessed, slants inward, to stay clearer in rain or snow. When the sun shines hot, the roof shades rear-seat passengers. Rear-seat headroom is increased. So is visibility (no rear-window glare). The sixth reason is beauty. You ride under the most distinctive roof on any 1963 car.
