Immediately inside of the entryway is a large statue. Tulip's general store=
, Underworld Outfitters on the left and Winthrop's office to the right in t=
he back corner. Doctor Barrows' clinic and the Chop Shop are located on the=
far wall. Heading up either set of stairs will take the Lone Wanderer to t=
he second floor balcony. On the left is the Ninth Circle, a bar run by Ahzr=
ukhal. On the right is Carol's Place, where the player character can rent a=
 room or purchase food.

When you first enter, you'll be standing in front of the main hallway. Unde=
rworld Outfitters, a store run by Tulip, is in a room on the left side of t=
he hallway, while Winthrop's office is opposite and a little farther from t=
he entrance. The doors in the back lead to The Chop Shop, where Doctor Barr=
ows works.

Heading up either set of stairs will take you to the overlook. The Ninth Ci=
rcle is a bar run by a shady ghoul named Ahzrukhal and is on the left side =
from the main entrance. Carol's Place, where you can rent a room or grab a =
bite to eat, is located on the right from the main entrance. In the large r=
oom at the end of the overlook, Moira Brown will be selling miscellaneous i=
tems and asking you to continue with research for her survival guide (if yo=
u destroyed Megaton). Snowflake, the resident barber, will hound you for a =
haircut.

Underworld is a town located in the Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3. It can =
be found inside the Museum of American History. The city is home to mostly =
Ghouls, who treat the city as a refuge from the outside world, where they a=
re constantly attacked by Super Mutants, Raiders and Brotherhood of Steel s=
oldiers.

Underworld is the city of Ghouls in Fallout 3, one where these outcasts can=
get some peace and quiet from the post-nuclear world outside. Located down=
town at the Museum of History, Underworld has plenty to keep you occupied f=
or hours upon hours. One of the briefer encounters you will have here is in=
Underworld's seedy bar, an establishment aptly named The Ninth Circle. You=
can find it on the left side of Underworld; it has two entrances you can u=
se.

When you speak with Ahzrukhal, you'll learn more about Charon if you so des=
ire (you can also buy drinks and illegal medications off of the bartender i=
f you so desire). It seems that the bartender owns Charon's contract. But w=
hen you press Ahzrukhal for more information on him, he declines that Charo=
n is his slave and claims that he's an abolitionist. He admits that Charon =
probably hates him, but is incredibly loyal nonetheless. This is where you =
come in. Offer Ahzrukhal 1,000 Bottle Caps for Charon's contract, and he de=
clines. But if you offer up 2,000 Bottle Caps, he'll sell you his contract.=
Things get ugly, though. Really ugly.

When you first visit, as you can see both in the screens above and below, y=
ou'll be intercepted by a Ghoul named Winthrop, who seems to have a bit of =
sway with the Underworld residents. After laying out the ground rules for y=
our time in Underworld, he'll tell you what he does. Winthrop is a mechanic=
and maintenance worker who keeps Underworld running smoothly. He's in dire=
need of Scrap Metal, however (kind of like the water maintenance worker ba=
ck in Megaton), but instead of offering you Bottle Caps, he offers you Rad-=
X, RadAway and Stimpaks galore for any Scrap Metal you bring him. And since=
Scrap Metal is found everywhere in the Capital Wasteland, you can do well =
for yourself by bringing Winthrop any Scrap Metal you find and exchanging i=
t for curative items. Just some food for thought!

There is no need to describe the location of this vault, considering it is =
literally where every player of the game starts out, but, in the interest o=
f the format of this article, the vault can be found to the northwest of Me=
gaton and west of Springvale.

As this location was a government ran tourist entity, the local government =
before the war had great sway over the direction of the cavern for the futu=
re; therefore, when Vault-Tec approached, wishing to turn the lower levels =
of the said cavern into a vault, approval was given almost right away. This=
is where Vault 87 would then be constructed.

With that being said, however, due to these constant attacks and kidnapping=
s, the Lone Wanderer arrives in a town wherein the inhabitants have been de=
feated both physically and mentally. Not long after arriving, you will find=
that many inhabitants have also been recently kidnapped by super mutants a=
nd taken to the Old Police Station in Germantown, a bunch the player can ch=
oose to save.

Hoss, a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, is the best of all the temporar=
y companions one could have. The player can find him near Falls Church, whe=
re he will be attempting to aid a trapped initiate named Pek. The Lone Wand=
erer can help him, though it is uncertain why such a well-armed paladin nee=
ds assistance.

Hoss wields a Flamer and a missile launcher, allowing him to decimate most =
enemies with ease. Furthermore, after he successfully rescues his ward, he =
will hang out with and fight alongside the player whenever they are in the =
area, though he will not follow them like a permanent companion elsewhere, =
unfortunately.

An old woman who lives by herself out in the middle of nowhere. Of course, =
the Lone Wanderer can ease her loneliness a bit by paying her a visit and a=
ccepting her request to find a very rare musical instrument...

This would have ruined the Master's ambitions, but in Fallout 2, Marcus tel=
ls the chosen one that mutants are fully capable of pro-creating. This is f=
urther muddied in the spin-off Brotherhood of Steel, where a mutant force l=
ed by Attus seeks to cure their infertility with help from research in a se=
cret vault.

Immersive sims typically task the player to make their way through levels a=
nd complete missions, but do not enforce the means by which the player does=
this. A common example would be where the player-character must get past a=
guard. The choice of how to do this would be up to the player: they may at=
tempt to sneak around; use parkour or other similar abilities, aided with s=
ome equipment, to slip around them; find small passageways that allow them =
to get around the guard; create a distraction that draws the guard away fro=
m their post; convince or bribe the guard to ignore them; or simply attack =
and kill or disable the guard directly. The choices may be limited by the p=
layer-character's abilities and current inventory, and there may be consequ=
ences of the player's choice. For example, killing or disabling the guard c=
ould leave the guard's body to be found later, raising the alert level of o=
ther guards. However, this element of consequence can be seen as a negative=
to players if taken throughout the game. For example, Dishonored introduce=
d a "chaos" system that adjusted how enemy guards would behave due to how m=
uch violence and disturbance a player had done earlier in the game, which d=
iscouraged players from trying different tactics to avoid making future enc=
ounters harder. This system was removed for Dishonored: Death of the Outsid=
er, as well as the addition of optional quests to encourage alternate appro=
aches to missions.[7]

A small number of studios and developers have been associated with the imme=
rsive sim genre, creating a lineage in its development originating from Loo=
king Glass Studios and its projects. Ultima Underworld was created by Paul =
Neurath and Doug Church, under their studio Blue Sky Productions and publis=
hed by Origin Systems. Warren Spector of Origin (who had worked on Ultima V=
I) also worked closely with Blue Sky to finalize the game - which eventuall=
y transitioned into Looking Glass and created System Shock and Thief.[13] S=
pector later joined Ion Storm and founded its Austin, Texas studio where th=
ey developed the Deus Ex series.[13] Looking Glass Studios eventually close=
d down but developers from it launched their own studios - notably Ken Levi=
ne who had helped with Thief and System Shock 2 left to form Irrational Gam=
es and create the BioShock series (which has been described as a spiritual =
sequel to the System Shock games). Following the release of BioShock Infini=
te, Levine significantly pared back Irrational Games to reform under a new =
name, Ghost Story Games, as to explore a new approach towards storytelling.=
However, Jason Schreier observed that many of those that had worked on the=
BioShock series at Irrational or other related studios often ended up eith=
er at existing studios or created their own studios that made their own imm=
ersive sim take on BioShock and continued this lineage.[29]

January 12, 2021 - DarkMarket, the world's largest illegal marketplace on t=
he dark web, has been taken offline in an international operation involving=
Germany, Australia, Denmark, Moldova, Ukraine, the United Kingdom (the Nat=
ional Crime Agency), and the USA (DEA, FBI, and IRS). Europol supported the=
takedown with specialist operational analysis and coordinated the cross-bo=
rder collaborative effort of the countries involved. Authorities say the da=
rknet platform had half a million users, where drugs, counterfeit money, st=
olen credit card data, anonymous SIM cards and malware were traded.

In a January 27, 2021 statement, the Department of Justice said that as par=
t of the action it has brought charges against Sebastien Vachon-Desjardins,=
a Canadian national, in connection NetWalker ransomware attacks where tens=
of millions of dollars were allegedly stolen.

May 2021 - After its blog and website went offline, DarkSide ransomware gro=
up announced it would be shutting down. Following the attack on Colonial Pi=
peline, DarkSide ransomware operators clearly knew the magnitude of fallout=
from the attack could spiral back toward the cybercrime group.
