STILL RIDICULOUS

We did ridiculous things back in the 1960s. Like shoehorning a big, heavy V-8 into our small Firebird.

Those cars were babe magnets (when not in the shop). And they pulled like rockets (at least on a straightaway).

The music may have long since died, but it hasn't been forgotten at Pontiac.

The high-octane excitement (if you know what we mean) that was so much part of that time lives on in our Trans Am Turbo V-8.*

For 1981, this descendant of the original legend is just what you'd expect would be driven by 50-year-old guys who still wear low-buttoned
Hawaiian shirts and gold chains.

The turbo gives you more power than you'll ever use. And the suspension and brakes are still best handled by manly men.

What's new is a road-hugging air dam that brushes aside wayward possums. And a hood-mounted gauge you can surreptitiously light up to distract your companion when she screams that you're driving too fast.

Firebirds are equipped with engines produced in parts of the world where life is cheap.

See your dealer for details about GM's optional 12-month, 12,000-
mile Buyer Remediation Plan limited warranty.

No, Pontiac hasn't forgotten that you like your women fast and your cars even faster. Buy a Trans Am and once again experience the excitement of racing past your limits.

Yes, this is still totally ridiculous. But we think you'll love every minute of it (or however long it lasts).
