Here are a few suggestions that might help:

Check the Emergency Release: There should be an emergency release
cable inside the trunk, usually on the right-hand side near the fuel
door. Look for a small cable with a tab on the end. Pulling this
should manually open the fuel door.

Inspect the Solenoid: The solenoid that controls the fuel door might
be faulty. It’s located behind the panel near the fuel door.
Sometimes, cleaning or replacing the solenoid can resolve the issue.

Fuse Check: Ensure that the fuse responsible for the fuel door is
intact. Refer to your owner’s manual to locate the correct fuse and
replace it if necessary.

Lubrication: Sometimes, the mechanism can get stuck due to lack of
lubrication. Applying a bit of WD-40 or a similar lubricant to the
hinge and latch might help free it up.

Electrical Issues: If the problem persists, it could be an electrical
issue. Checking the wiring and connections for any signs of damage or
corrosion might be necessary
