Titu Andreescu has a remarkable biography as a mathematician and educator. He was born in 1956 in Timișoara, Romania, where he developed a passion for mathematics from an early age. He won the Romanian national problem solving contests organized by Gazeta Matematică three times in a row from 1973 to 1975. He graduated with a B.S. and M.S. degree from the University of Timișoara and became a professor of mathematics at the Constantin Diaconovici Loga school of Mathematics and Physics. He also served as the editor-in-chief of the Periodical Revista mathematică din Timișoara and as a coach for the Romanian International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) team. In 1984, he was appointed as "Counselor of the Romanian Ministry of Education".[^2^] [^4^]

In 1990, after the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, Andreescu emigrated to the United States, where he taught at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Timișoara in 2003. He is currently an associate professor of mathematics at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is also deeply involved in mathematics contests and olympiads at various levels, having been the Director of American Mathematics Competitions (as appointed by the Mathematical Association of America), Director of the Mathematical Olympiad Program, Head Coach of the United States International Mathematical Olympiad Team, and Chairman of the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad. He has received many awards and honors for his contributions to mathematics education and problem solving, such as a Certificate of Appreciation from the Mathematical Association of America for "outstanding service" as coach of the United States Mathematical Olympiad Program.[^2^] [^3^]

Titu Andreescu is also a prolific author who has written or co-written more than 40 books on mathematics, especially on Olympiad-style problems. Some of his books are Mathematical Olympiad Challenges, Mathematical Olympiad Treasures, Mathematical Reflections: In a Room with Many Mirrors, Number Theory: Structures, Examples, and Problems, Complex Numbers from A to Z, Mathematical Induction: A Powerful and Elegant Method of Proof, etc. He is also the founder and director of AwesomeMath, which includes a summer program for students training to succeed at the Olympiad level, a correspondence-based lecture series for students continuing education, called AwesomeMath Year-round, and Mathematical Reflections, a free online journal focused primarily on mathematical problem solving.[^3^]
