I ran my own BBS back around 1999/2000 with software also written in Pascal. I wasn't very good at it but managed to tweak it to my liking. Today I spend most of my "free" time resurrecting old BBS software and tools as well, with the help of AI whenever my knowledge isn't enough.

BBSing is a great hobby even today, and it's great to see there is still a small scene out there, and the tools we have today would blow my mind 20 years ago. Being able to spawn a BBS in DOS using dosemu accessible from the whole world in an instant is something we could only dream of back in the day with shake phone lines (and high phone bills...).

I also like to believe that more people eventually will start looking into options when they grow tired of the current centralized social media giants.
