Baltimore Ravens Star Malaki Starks And Wife Savanna Drop Major News
Ahead Of 2026 Season
Malaki Starks completed his rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens
having logged 1,060 defensive snaps, started 15 of 17 games, and posted
the third-most interceptions on the roster. The 27th overall pick of the
2025 NFL Draft from Georgia finished with the fourth-most total tackles
on the defense and was named the NFL’s highest-graded safety in
back-to-back weeks.
His personal life has followed a similarly deliberate path.

Starks and Savanna Jackson met in fourth grade in Jefferson Georgia. The
two maintained a close friendship through high school before their
relationship deepened into something more. He proposed in October 2024,
and the couple married in Milton, Georgia, on March 20, 2026. Around 140
guests attended. “She’s very special to me, and she’s very important to
what I do along with my family,” Starks said after proposing. “It was
just time for me.” Before every game, Starks reads a letter Savanna
writes him, a ritual he has followed throughout his career at Georgia
and into the NFL.
Less than four months after the wedding the couple shared new news.
Malaki and Savanna Starks announced they are expecting their first
child, posted via social media and quickly circulated among NFL fans.
Starks is 22 years old. The announcement comes ahead of his second NFL
season and adds a new dimension to what has already been an eventful
year away from the field.
Starks is under a four-year, $16.5 million fully guaranteed rookie
contract. He is expected to continue emerging as one of the NFL’s top
young safeties in 2026. He pairs with All-Pro Kyle Hamilton to give
Baltimore one of the most versatile safety combinations in the league.
Head Coach John Harbaugh has described Starks as someone who can play
dime linebacker in addition to his work across the secondary.
“I feel comfortable playing anywhere,” Starks said after the draft.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta praised Starks’s football
intelligence at the NFL Combine, saying his ability to identify opposing
plays before they were shown to him was “remarkable.” DeCosta added,
“His awareness, his ability to call out the plays from their defense
before we even showed the plays, just based on formation. It was like he
was a coach.”
The marriage and pregnancy both came with some public noise. When Starks
announced his wedding in March, criticism appeared on social media about
the timing. Former NFL executives and Ravens analysts pushed back,
noting the relationship predated his NFL draft selection by years.
Malaki Starks And Savanna Relationship Timeline
When Starks announced his wedding in March, criticism spread fast on
social media over a player his age settling down so early.Media covered
how the backlash shifted once the timeline of their relationship became
widely known. Their bond started in elementary school, continued through
Jefferson High School, and held through Starks’s college career at
Georgia, two national championship runs, and his entry into the NFL.
Savanna had already become a recognizable figure among Ravens fans
before the wedding.
Their pregame letter tradition also drew attention. Starks has read a
letter from Savanna before each game throughout his football career. His
mother Tisha described the relationship as a stabilizing force. Savanna
was present at Lambeau Field on the night of the draft when Starks was
selected 27th overall.
The Ravens enter the 2026 season with one of the NFL youngest and most
praised secondaries. Baltimore’s official site noted that Starks was
entering Year 2 looking to add another ring alongside his wedding band.
With five first-round picks in their secondary and Lamar Jackson under
contract through the 2029 season, the franchise is positioned for
sustained competition. Starks is scheduled to be part of that core
throughout his current deal, which runs through the 2028 season.
Starks won a national championship at Georgia in 2022 as a true
freshman. He then built one of the more complete rookie defensive
seasons the Ravens have seen in years. Training camp opens in late July.
He will report as a husband, an expectant father, and one of the most
watched young safeties in the NFL.
