Psalm 4: What is David asking for?

In Psalm 4, David makes several direct requests to God while addressing 
both his inner distress and his opponents. His explicit petitions to God 
include:

1. *Answer and Mercy:* In verse 1, David appeals to God as the 
maintainer of his righteousness, asking Him to hear his prayer and be 
gracious to him ("Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You

2. *Vindication and Protection from Enemies:* In verse 2, David calls 
out those who turn his honor into shame and seek false words, asking God 
to uphold his cause against his accusers.
